The Ballona Creek Bike Path: Culver City’s Gateway to the Ocean
One of the best parts about living in Culver City is how connected we are — not just to the city, but to nature and the ocean, too. A perfect example is the Ballona Creek Bike Path, a dedicated car-free path that takes you straight from our neighborhood all the way to Marina del Rey (and beyond!).
With multiple entry points throughout Culver City, the path is easy to hop onto whether you’re out for a quick walk, jog, or a long bike ride. Once you’re on, you’ll join a steady flow of runners, walkers, cyclists, and the occasional e-bike zipping by — so keep an eye out as you go.
Where the path can take you:
Head west and you’ll ride along the creek all the way to Marina del Rey, where the ocean suddenly opens up before you — one of the best rewards after a ride.
Cross the bridge, and you can keep going south toward Playa del Rey, Manhattan Beach, Hermosa Beach, and eventually all the way down to Redondo Beach.
Turn right (north) and you’ll roll toward Venice Beach and beyond.
Bike Path Entrances
No two rides ever feel the same. Some days you’ll catch the ocean breeze early, other days you’ll notice new murals or wildlife along the creek. And if you’re in the mood for a little treat, a stop at Playa Provisions near the beach is perfect for coffee or a snack before heading back.
Why locals love it:
It’s free, car-free, and family-friendly.
You can start your day with fresh air and exercise without sitting in traffic.
It’s a reminder of how lucky we are in Culver City to have such easy access to the coast.
For me, riding the Ballona Creek Bike Path is more than just exercise — it’s a little escape, a way to clear my head, and one of those unique gifts Culver City gives us: the ability to hop on a bike and end up at the ocean.
